This project investigates the destruction intrinsic to an archival process. Generated by architecture students of Seville University, it reflects their drive to ‘destroy’ buildings of a historically significant part of their city: Paseo de Cristóbal Colón in Seville and Calle Betis in Triana. These buildings were recorded and stored using an in-camera editing technique that relies on light’s destructive capacity. For the stage of retrieval the audience is invited to witness the sublimation of the students’ drive, through a circle of images set in motion by a projection apparatus that both brings them to life and accelerates their destruction. The sound piece enters into a dialogue with the moving images, incorporating ‘white noise’ in asynchronous counterpoint.
